Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Bangladesh Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi Wednesday said that the Iran authorities had assured Bangladesh all cooperation in allowing ships carrying fuel for the brotherly country through the Strait of Hormuz amid the ongoing conflict across the Gulf states.
Addressing a press briefing at the Iranian embassy in Dhaka, he said that Bangladesh had given specifications of six ships carrying fuel for Bangladesh stuck in the Strait of Hormuz due to Iranian restrictions.
‘Initially, we conveyed Bangladesh’s request for allowing its fuel carrying ships without specifications. Later in the past week, we were given the specifications. Our authorities are working on it,’ he added.
The envoy, however, expressed disappointment over Bangladesh’s statements expressing concern over the Middle East situation without condemning the United States and Israel’s joint attack on Iran since February 28 and killing of civilians including their supreme leader.
He said that Iran expected a strong statement condemning the US-Israel attack on Iran for violation of the UN charter.
