Actor Dhanush is facing a legal dispute after production banner Thenandal Films reportedly sent him a notice over a long-delayed film project. The company is seeking ₹20 crore in compensation, claiming heavy financial losses due to the stalled production.
According to a report by OneIndia Tamil, the issue relates to a film titled “Naan Rudran”, which the actor allegedly agreed to star in and direct in 2016. The notice claims that although the makers accepted later changes to the plan, the actor did not provide the full screenplay, causing the project to remain incomplete for years.
The production house says it spent nearly ₹20 crore in advance and also paid expenses for actors Nagarjuna Akkineni and SJ Suryah, who were expected to appear in the film. It argues that the delay caused serious financial damage and has warned of further legal action if the demanded amount is not paid within the given time.
In the legal notice, advocate A. Chidambaram reportedly stated that the film stalled midway because the actor prioritised other projects before completing this one. So far, Dhanush has not issued any public statement regarding the matter.
Dhanush was last seen in “Kuberaa”, “Idli Kadai”, and “Tere Ishk Mein”. The romantic drama also featured Kriti Sanon and received mixed reviews, earning about ₹161.96 crore worldwide.
