Ganatantra Mancha leaders on Sunday called on the interim government to take immediate steps against the attacks on pre-election campaigns of different political party candidates.
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD, a partner of Ganatantra Mancha, organised a rally in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka, protesting against attacks on party candidate Tania Rob proposed for Laxmipur-4 constituency.
Ganatantra Mancha coordinator Saiful Huq, also general secretary of Revolutionary Workers Party, said that unknown miscreants attacked the election campaigners of Tania Rob and ransacked party office in Ramgati recently.
He called on the interim government to take immediate steps to stop such attacks on the election campaigners.
Bhashani Janashikti Party chairman Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu called on the government to check attacks for ensuring level playing fields for all political parties before next general election.
Bangladesh Rashtra Sanskar Andolan president Hasnat Quaiyum said that holding next general election in February was must for early democratic transition of the country.
JSD general secretary Shahid Uddin Mahmod Shapon who chaired the rally said that his party would continue election campaign of party’s senior vice-president Tania Rob and other candidates across the country braving the obstacles.
The rally was followed by a protest procession that paraded different city roads.
