Nine more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
With the latest figures, a total of 31 children died from measles over the past 29 days since March 15, while 164 children died with measles symptoms during the same period.
The DGSH report published on Tuesday revealed that in the past 24 hours until 8:00am Tuesday, the death of one child from measles has been confirmed, while eight others died with measles symptoms.
During the same period, 698 children were admitted to hospitals with measles symptoms, while 176 cases of measles were confirmed.
Of the confirmed death, the child was from Chattogram. Of the eight deaths with symptoms, six were reported in the Dhaka division, one in Chattogram, and one in Rajshahi.
During this time, the highest number of measles cases—157—was detected in Dhaka division, while Rajshahi reported 13 cases, and three cases each were identified in Chattogram and Khulna divisions.
The DGSH said that in the past 24 hours, a total of 1,105 people showed symptoms of measles across the country, including 485 in Dhaka division alone.
Meanwhile, 698 patients were hospitalised in the period, of whom 290 were in the Dhaka division.
The lowest number of hospital admissions was reported in Rangpur (8) and Mymensingh (16).
In addition, 935 patients admitted with measles symptoms were discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours.
Among them, the highest number—411—were discharged in Chattogram division, followed by 258 in Dhaka division.

Over the past 29 days, 15,653 people reported measles-like symptoms, of whom 11,652 were hospitalised. Of them, 2,897 cases were confirmed as measles, and 9,304 patients have recovered and returned home.
