Actor Hasan Masood has clarified that he has no plans to leave acting, addressing what he described as a misunderstanding stemming from his recent comments on television.

According to Masood, he had said that he had not been acting for the past two years because of a lack of quality content, but his remarks were interpreted as suggesting that he had decided to quit the profession altogether.

“It was a mistake to say it on a television channel. I said that I haven’t been acting for two years and that there isn’t much good content at the moment. But I never said that I would not act anymore,” Masood said.

The actor also dismissed the notion that his increasing focus on religious practices would prevent him from continuing his career, saying that performing religious duties and working on a shooting set were not mutually exclusive.

“You can practise your faith and still offer your prayers during a shoot,” he said.

Masood explained that prayer has long been part of his routine, including throughout his years as a working actor.

“Those I have worked with over the past four or five years know that I started praying regularly in 2000. During shoots, everyone would give me a break to pray, and I would make sure I didn’t have any sequences scheduled at that time,” he said.

“In later years, directors themselves would tell me, ‘It’s break time, Hasan bhai. Go and offer your prayers.’ That’s how it was.”

Asked whether acting still appealed to him, Masood was unequivocal about his willingness to return if the right project came along.

“Yes, of course I will act. If I get the opportunity and a good script, why wouldn’t I? I will definitely act because acting is how people in Bangladesh came to know me,” he said.

Masood also pointed out that he has continued working since returning from Hajj, having already appeared in two advertisements.

“I worked on two commercials after returning from Hajj,” he said.

He recalled that his hair had not fully grown back when he worked on the advertisements and that he had told the production teams he did not want to shave at the time.

“They told me, ‘It’s up to you. You can do it however you want.’ But if I have to shave for an acting role now, of course I will. Why wouldn’t I?” he said.

Masood’s clarification makes it clear that his absence from acting over the past two years was not a retirement from the profession. Rather, the actor remains open to returning to the screen, with the availability of a good script and suitable opportunity determining when audiences will see him act again.
