Since 1982, Aranyak has been regularly observing International Workers' Day, and this year is no exception. To mark the occasion, the troupe has arranged a daylong programme, while theatre group BotTola will stage two performances of the children’s play "Bonnotheriam".

The daylong programme of Aranyak will begin on May 1 at 10:00am at the Central Shaheed Minar of the University of Dhaka. The opening segment will feature May Day songs, recitations, Baul music by Bhabnogor Sadhusonga, and a discussion session. Dr Fauzia Moslem, president of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, will attend as a speaker.

The programme will also include a staging of the street play "Murkho Loker Murkho Kotha", written and directed by Mannan Hira.

The second phase will be held at 6:30pm at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital. Following May Day songs, Aranyak will stage its acclaimed production "Rarang", written and directed by Mamunur Rashid.

As part of this annual observance, a publication titled "May Dibosher Kagoj" is released every year, featuring writings by prominent contributors. This tradition continues this year as well with a new issue.

Meanwhile, on May 1, BotTola will stage two performances of "Bonnotheriam" at Bangladesh Mohila Samity on Bailey Road. The performances will take place at 4:30pm and 6:30pm at the Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium.

Based on "Heshoram Hushiyarer Diary" by Sukumar Ray, the stage adaptation and direction of "Bonnotheriam" have been done by Ivan Riaz.

In the drama, the organisation Wild Vision discovers a rare and unusual species known as the “tash cow”. Acting on the instructions of its president, Haru, the company captures the creature and brings it in. The discovery of such a strange and rare wild animal brings Wild Vision significant recognition. Upon hearing the news, wildlife trader Miss Hukki arrives, seeking information on more of these “tash cows”.

Meanwhile, Chandrakhai, the nephew of renowned researcher Professor Heshoram Hushiyar, arrives with stories of even more unusual wildlife and natural discoveries. Listening to accounts of the professor’s extraordinary expeditions, Haru and Miss Hukki grow increasingly fascinated, seeing opportunities for new business ventures. In their excitement, they begin to overlook concerns about oxygen, ecological balance, and future generations, instead envisioning profit through the exploitation of nature. Chandrakhai, however, continues to advance towards his own underlying purpose through his storytelling.
