The four-day deputy commissioners’ conference is set to begin on Sunday at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka.

Extensive preparations for the conference, which will be held from May 3 to May 6, have already been completed.

A press briefing will be held at 3:20pm on Saturday at the Cabinet Division in the Secretariat to highlight the overall arrangements, including the objectives, agenda and other key aspects of the conference, officials said.

Prime minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate the conference at the venue.

After a half-hour break, the DCs will engage in an open discussion with the prime minister.

Senior policymakers of the government will attend the inaugural session and deliver directive speeches to the deputy commissioners.

The opening session will emphasise the overall administrative situation of the country, improvement of public service delivery, and ways to address challenges faced by field-level administration, officials added.

A total of 34 working sessions will be held during this year’s DC conference.

Deputy commissioners from across the country will take part in the event, which serves as a key platform for direct interaction between the government and field administration.

Through the conference, DCs will also get the opportunity to meet and exchange views with the president, prime minister and the chief justice.
