At least 402 people were killed and 1,294 more were injured in 394 road accidents across Bangladesh during Eid-ul-Azha, said a Passenger Welfare Association of Bangladesh report published on Sunday.

Compared with Eid-ul-Azha in 2025, this year road accident death toll rose by 3.07 per cent, the number of injuries rose by 9.47 per cent and incidents of road crashes rose by 3.95 per cent.


During the just passed Eid-ul-Azha holiday, trains were involved in the next highest number of deaths with 23 people killed in 31 railway accidents that also injured 30 individuals.

In 17 accidents involving waterways, 13 people were killed and 16 were injured during the holidays.

The report was prepared based on reports published in different national dailies, seven online news portals, different electronic media and own sources covering a period between May 21 and June 4, said a press release issued by the association.

Earlier on the day, the association revealed the report at a press conference held at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity.

Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated in the country on May 28.

On the occasion, the government announced a seven-day public holiday from May 25 to 31.

As per the report, motorcycles were involved in the highest number of accidents.

This Eid, 153 motorcycle accidents killed 159 people and injured 180.
