A Dhaka court on Sunday placed former Directorate General of Forces Intelligence official retired major Manjil Haider Chowdhury on a four-day fresh remand in a case lodged under the Anti-Terrorism Act over flash procession by banned Bangladesh Chhatra League and Awami League in the capital in 2025.
Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Mehedi Hasan passed the order as the police produced Manjil before the court after end of his five-day remand in the case and pleaded to place him on another seven-day remand.
According to the case documents, leaders and activists of the banned BCL and the Awami League brought out a flash procession in front of Rupayan Tower in Bangla Motor area on September 12 in the past year.
They chanted different anti-government and anti-state slogans. The police later filed the case under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
On April 9, the police arrested Manjil Haider Chowdhury from a house at Mohakhali DOHS in the capital.
