Ganosamhati Andolan chief coordinator Zonayed Saki, also a candidate in the upcoming national elections for Brahmanbaria-6 constituency, on Saturday said that a Universal Health Service card must be introduced to ensure quality healthcare for all citizens.

He made the remark while conducting election campaign at Nijkandi village of Banchharampur’s Fardabad union, said a press release.

Saki said that his participation in the election was aimed at securing a better future for children so that they could grow up as skilled, competent and humane individuals with access to quality education and healthcare.

He said that the state must take responsibility for ensuring healthcare through a universal health service system, under which every citizen would be entitled to treatment when they fall ill.

He noted that proper rules, public participation and state accountability would be required to implement such a system effectively.

Saki also stressed that healthcare should not be limited to treatment alone but must include preventive measures to stop diseases before they occur.

He said that protecting soil, water, air, rivers, canals, wetlands, nature and greenery was essential for maintaining public health.

Saki also stated that there was no personal interest behind his political engagement, adding that his only concern was the greater public interest and a better future for Banchharampur and the country.

Zonayed Saki, a Bangladesh Nationalist Party-supported candidate for Brahmanbaria-6 constituency, is campaigning door to door with the ‘Mathal’ symbol.
