The Mostafiz Academy of Fine Arts inaugurated a five-day group art exhibition titled Winter Light on Canvas at Gallery MAFA of Lalmatia in Dhaka on Friday.

Artist Abul Barak Alvi inaugurated the exhibition, which was attended by Professor Mostafizul Haque, artist, founder of Gallery MAFA and chairman of the board of trustees of Shanto-Mariam University of Creative

Technology; Professor Md Azharul Islam Chanchal, dean of the faculty of fine arts at the University of Dhaka; artists Abdul Manna and Biren Som, among others.

Curated by Rubina Nargis, the exhibition is showcasing selected artworks by 44 artists from across the country.

The collection reflects diverse trends, themes and aesthetic expressions in contemporary art.

Following the inauguration, the guests toured the exhibition and appreciated the diversity of themes, creativity and artistic excellence displayed in the exhibited works.

During the discussion session, the speakers emphasised that artistic practice played a vital role in fostering the humanistic, aesthetic and cultural development of society.

The exhibition will end on June 30.
