The Chattogram Education Board has suspended all remaining Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations for 2026 until further notice due to the post-flood situation.
The announcement was made on Thursday night through a notice signed by Prof Dr Md Parvez Sazzad Chowdhury, Controller of Examinations of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Chattogram.
He also confirmed the matter to The Daily Star.
According to the notice, the decision was taken in line with the resolution of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee after considering the overall condition in the flood-affected areas, the physical and mental wellbeing of examinees, consultations with relevant stakeholders, and the difficulties students are facing in travelling to examination centres because of flood-damaged roads.
The board said a revised exam schedule would be announced through a separate notice at an appropriate time.
Earlier, the Chattogram Education Board had suspended HSC examinations until July 16 due to flooding triggered by heavy rainfall in the Chattogram region.
Meanwhile, a section of HSC examines staged demonstrations in front of the Chattogram Education Board over the past two days, demanding the resignation of the education minister.
The latest decision to suspend the exams came amid the ongoing protests.
According to the Chattogram Education Board, a total of 99,688 students from 283 colleges across five districts – Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Rangamati, Khagrachhari and Bandarban – are sitting for the HSC examinations under the board this year.
