The two-day 20th edition of the Bangladesh Denim Expo would begin in Dhaka on June 10, bringing together global industry stakeholders to discuss the future of Bangladesh's denim and apparel sector amid evolving economic and trade challenges.
According to a press release, commerce minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir is expected to inaugurate the event which would end on June 11.
More than 50 exhibitors from over 10 countries would participate in the expo, showcasing products and innovations across the entire denim supply chain, from fabrics to finishing solutions.
Mostafiz Uddin, founder and chief executive officer of the Bangladesh Denim Expo, said exhibitors would present innovative products and ideas to shape the future of the denim industry.
The theme of this year›s expo is ‹Frontline to Future›.
‘For more than four decades, Bangladesh›s apparel industry has stood at the frontline of global fashion — absorbing pressure, driving growth and delivering value to the world. The 20th edition of the Bangladesh Denim Expo arrives at this pivotal crossroads,’ he said.
He added that the theme was not merely a reflection of where the country›s apparel industry currently stands, but a declaration of where it is heading.
‘From unlocking green and responsible investment to navigating post-LDC trade agreements, from championing a just transition for its workforce to pioneering product diversification beyond apparel, Bangladesh is not waiting for the future — it is building it,’ he said.
Alongside the exhibition, five panel discussions would be held over the two days.
The discussions would focus on topics including ‹Negotiating the Future: Trade Agreements and Bangladesh Apparel in the Post-LDC Era›, ‘Stitching the Future: Just Transition in Bangladesh’s Apparel Industry’, ‘Beyond Apparel: Product Diversification as the Key to the Future Economy’, and ‘Financing the Future: Unlocking Green and Responsible Investment in Bangladesh’s Denim and Apparel Sector’.
A special session titled ‘Woven in Data: The Past and Future of Bangladesh›s Global Competitiveness’ would also be organised by Better Work Bangladesh.
National and international policymakers, buyers, industry leaders, and experts are expected to share insights at the discussions aimed at supporting the sustainable growth of Bangladesh›s apparel industry.
