To help voters confirm this information in advance, the Election Commission has promoted its official Smart Election Management BD smartphone application. Here's how to use a smartphone to find your designated polling centre and related voting details.
Use the Election Commission’s official app
Voters can check their assigned polling centre on a smartphone using the Election Commission’s official 'Smart Election Management BD' app, which allows users to search with their National Identity Card (NID) details and view location information for their designated centre. The Smart Election Management BD app is available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Search using your NID number and date of birth
By entering an NID number and date of birth in the app, voters can view their serial number, the name and address of their polling centre, and information about candidates in their constituency, including electoral symbols and affidavits. The Commission has said some functions, including real-time updates and results, will be activated closer to, or on, election day.
View your centre’s location and details
According to Election Commission, the app can show a polling centre’s location information, including geo-location and map-based directions, and may also provide additional details such as photos and distance.
If the app is unavailable or not working
Availability of individual features can vary, and some users have reported that the polling-centre search option can be temporarily closed. If the app does not provide the required information, voters can use alternative official channels, including the national helpline 333, which has been launched to provide verified election and referendum information. Voters can also seek assistance via official Election Commission channels and local election offices.
