Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed more than 200 US personnel were killed after Washington violated a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two countries.

IRGC spokesman Gen Hossein Mohebbi rejected US figures on casualties, calling them "a sheer lie" and accusing Washington of concealing the true death toll, according to Iran's semi-official Tasnim News Agency.

Mohebbi claimed Iranian forces struck eight US troop deployment centres during Operation Nasr II, which he described as Iran's response to US attacks over the past two weeks.

He said one strike alone destroyed 20 shelters and that the number of wounded was "much higher".

"The American people should not allow their lying commanders to think they are stupid," Mohebbi was quoted.

He also called on the US administration to allow journalists to visit the damaged military sites and estimate the number of casualties.

According to Tasnim, the remarks came as US forces continued aerial attacks on Iran for 13 consecutive nights, targeting what it described as civilian sites, reports bdnews24.com.

The agency said Iranian forces responded with strikes on strategic US targets across West Asia.

Tasnim also said the US and Israel launched military action against Iran on Feb 28 before agreeing to a ceasefire on Apr 8.

It added that Tehran and Washington signed a Pakistan-brokered MoU on Jun 17 to end hostilities and pave the way for further negotiations, but claimed the US later violated the agreement, prompting Iran's response.
