After making news by wearing a dazzling diamond ring at the "Avatar: Fire and Ash" premiere in Los Angeles, Miley Cyrus has confirmed her engagement to longtime partner Maxx Morando, following four years together.
Several outlets, including Page Six and People, verified the news, which comes after the couple's appearance on the red carpet at the film's world premiere on Monday. Miley's song "Dream As One" is featured in the movie's soundtrack.
The 33-year-old pop superstar and 27-year-old drummer Maxx posed together on the red carpet, with Miley prominently showcasing a diamond ring on her left-hand ring finger. The ring, set on a thick gold band, was clearly visible in photos from the event.
Speaking to People, Miley expressed her happiness at this stage of her life. She described feeling "astounded" at taking the next step in her relationship with Maxx, the drummer for the band Liily.
"The one thing I can say is that maintaining our privacy and keeping things intimate has been really important to us," she explained. "I'm honestly surprised I've been able to preserve that and have more control over what I choose to share. I think being older has made me more protective about what I make public."
Miley also drew a connection between her personal life and the themes of Avatar, highlighting the film's focus on "love, family, resilience, reconnection, and the idea of being stronger together." She said, "It felt perfectly in tune with where I am in my life right now."
According to Deux Moi, Miley was first seen wearing the ring in mid-November, with it clearly visible in photos from her birthday dinner later that month. Francesca Simons, a representative for jewelry designer Jacquie Aiche, confirmed that the ring was crafted by Jacquie and features a cushion-cut stone set on a wide 14-karat yellow gold band.
The couple's romance began in December 2021, when they were photographed getting close backstage at Miley's New Year's Eve Party in Miami. By April 2022, their relationship appeared official after they were spotted kissing in West Hollywood.
