A seminar on the construction of earthquake-resistant buildings and other natural disasters was held in Rajshahi yesterday.
The seminar, organized by the Rajshahi Development Authority (RDA), was held at the RDA meeting room at 11 am.
The speakers at the meeting said that it is very important to comply with the BNBC code in building construction to address earthquake risks, take initiatives to survey old and risky buildings and renovate them, increase disaster preparedness, and increase public awareness. They also said that major
disasters can be avoided to a large extent through planned urbanization and implementation of strong construction policies.
The event was presided over by S. M. Tuhinur Alam, Chairman of Rajshahi Development Authority.
