Following a landslide victory of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections, BNP chairman Tarique Rahman is set to pay courtesy visits to Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami amir Shafique Rahman and National Citizen Party convener Nahid Islam.

According to party leaders, Tarique on Sunday evening would first visit Shafiqur Rahman at his residence in the Bashundhara residential area of Dhaka before proceeding to the home of Nahid Islam in Badda.

BNP sources confirmed that the visits were part of the party’s efforts to promote  positive and constructive political engagement with other party leaders.

The Election Commission recently released the official results for 297 parliamentary constituencies, revealing a decisive victory for the BNP, which secured 209 seats.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami won 68 constituencies, while the National Citizen Party, a member of the Jamaat-led 11-party alliance, claimed six seats.

The JS elections, held alongside a constitutional referendum, took place in 299 constituencies on Thursday.

Voting in Sherpur-3 was postponed following the death of a candidate in that constituency, while results for Chattogram-2 and Chattogram-4 remain pending under court directives.
