Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has urged drivers and vehicle owners to ensure the use of number plates issued by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).

In a public notice issued today, DMP said many vehicles are being operated without BRTA-issued number plates and radio frequency identification (RFID) tags. It added that in several cases, RFID tags were found inactive, creating complications in city traffic management.

From next week, legal action will be taken against vehicles found operating without BRTA-issued number plates and RFID tags, according to the notice, signed by Md Sarwar, commissioner (acting) of DMP.
