Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended warm greetings to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
“This sacred festival forms an integral part of India’s rich and diverse cultural heritage and is celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm by millions of people of the Islamic faith across the country,” Modi wrote in a letter shared by the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh today.
He said Eid-ul-Azha upholds the timeless ideals of sacrifice, compassion and brotherhood, which are essential for fostering a peaceful and inclusive world.
Modi also said India and Bangladesh share a deep-rooted bond built on shared sacrifices, cultural commonalities, and a mutual desire for peace, stability and growth.
“The Indian government looks forward to working closely with the Bangladesh government to strengthen people-centric cooperation in various domains.
“Our shared vision as reflected in our national development goals is aimed at the mutual benefit of our peoples,” he wrote.
Modi also wished Tarique good health and well-being, and expressed hope for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Bangladesh.
