Lights, cameras and Kolkata’s old streets — Shakib Khan’s upcoming film Prince is racing toward its Eid-ul-Fitr finish.

The shooting of the much-anticipated film has entered its final phase, with the production now unfolding across the historic corners of Kolkata after completing an earlier schedule in Sri Lanka.

For several days, cameras rolled inside a weathered factory in the Shalimar area of Howrah, setting the tone for the film’s gritty atmosphere. The unit has since moved across iconic locations in the city, including Bow Bazar, Alipore Jail and Bharat Laxmi Studio, turning Kolkata into a sprawling cinematic backdrop.

At the centre of the action is Shakib Khan, stepping into the intense role of top terror Kala Jahangir, a character expected to carry the film’s darker dramatic edge.

Joining him in this schedule are actresses Tasnia Farin and Jyotirmoyee Kundu. Farin appears as Dilruba, although her character’s journey unfolds separately from Jyotirmoyee’s in the storyline.

The film also features Loknath Dey, Pian Sarkar and Mrityunjay Bhattacharya in key roles. Loknath portrays Gopal Kar, while Pian Sarkar takes on the role of his wife, a woman who rises to power after her husband’s death to become a formidable lady don — eventually joining forces with Kala Jahangir.

Directed by Abu Hayat Mahmud, Prince is being shot with an international technical team. Bollywood cinematographers Amit Roy and Shailesh Awasthi are behind the lens, adding a larger visual scale to the project.

Once the Kolkata schedule wraps, the production will head to Hyderabad for its final stretch.

With the clock ticking toward Eid, Prince is gearing up for what the makers hope will be a grand arrival on the festive big screen.
