Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has strongly condemned the attack at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner attended by US President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump and other top officials and business leaders.

“Strongly condemning the cowardly act of violence at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner,” he shared a post on X today.

He said he is relieved to learn that Trump, the US First Lady and others are unharmed.

“We stand firmly against all forms of violence,” he said.

On Saturday, a man armed with guns and knives stormed the lobby outside the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner attended by Trump, charging toward the ballroom in a chaotic encounter with Secret Service agents as guests dived under tables at the sound of shots being fired.

Trump did not incur any injury, and was rushed off the stage.

The armed man, who officials said was a guest at the Washington Hilton where the dinner was being held, was taken into custody.

Police believe he opened fire and acted alone but did not say what his motive was or who his intended target was.
