The United States Embassy in Dhaka on Friday reminded applicants for several categories of nonimmigrant visas that they are required to make all their social media profiles publicly accessible as part of the visa screening process.
In a notice posted on its official channels, the embassy said that, since March 30, 2026, applicants seeking A-3, C-3 visas for domestic workers, G-5, H-3 and dependent H-4 visas, as well as K-1, K-2, K-3, Q, R-1, R-2, S, T and U visas, have been instructed to adjust the privacy settings of all their social media accounts to 'public'.
According to the embassy, the requirement is intended to facilitate the vetting process necessary to establish applicants’ identities and determine their admissibility to the United States.
The embassy said the measure forms part of the US government’s visa screening procedures and applies to all applicants under the specified visa categories.
Applicants were advised to ensure that the privacy settings of their social media profiles comply with the requirement before attending visa interviews or completing the application process.
The embassy also directed applicants to consult official US visa information sources for further details regarding the policy and its implementation.
