Different Touch is preparing to release new music, vocalist Mejbah Rahman has revealed in an interview with Prothom Alo.
The update comes as the band’s iconic song, “Sraboner Megh Gulo Joro Holo Akashe”, has found renewed popularity on social media. The song has recently been used by many people to express solidarity following the cyberbullying of a government primary school headteacher in Sylhet, introducing Different Touch to a new generation of listeners.
Speaking to Prothom Alo, Mejbah said the renewed interest in “Sraboner Meghgulo” has inspired the band to complete its new projects more quickly. He added that it is encouraging to see younger audiences rediscovering Different Touch through the song.
According to the singer, the band is in the final stage of producing several new songs. Some of them have already been performed at live concerts and received encouraging responses from audiences.
Mejbah said Different Touch plans to release the songs through its own YouTube channel with accompanying music videos. While the band will initially release singles, it also hopes to bring together several songs in a special collection later.
The singer also shared that Different Touch has remained busy with live performances in recent months. The band recently performed in Gazipur, Cumilla, Khulna and Bogura. They also took part in the “Shobar Age Bangladesh” concert at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban and performed at Sufia Kamal Hall of the University of Dhaka.
Mejbah expressed hope that the band’s upcoming releases would earn the same lasting affection as classics such as “Sraboner Megh”, “Drishti Prodip” and “Mon Ki Je Chay”.
