Ahead of the upcoming 13th national election and the referendum on the same day, the Election Commission (EC) has decided to appoint executive magistrates to enforce the code of conduct from the day after the announcement of the election schedule until two days after the voting.

The EC today sent a letter to the Ministry of Public Administration, requesting the necessary steps regarding the appointments.

The letter, signed by Md Monir Hossain, deputy secretary of the EC, was sent today to the senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration.

The letter said that for the national parliamentary election, the EC has decided to appoint at least two executive magistrates in every upazila/thana to enforce the code of conduct under the Mobile Court Act, 2009, from the day after the schedule is announced until two days after the voting.
