Touhid Hossain says BNP acting chair yet to ask for a travel document

Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain said today the government has no specific information about BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman's date of return, as he has yet to ask for a travel document.

"It will be issued as soon as he asks for it," said Touhid Hossain, the de facto foreign minister, while talking to reporters.

His remarks come at a time when the social media is rife with comments and posts speculating Tarique Rahman's return within a day or two. BNP's number two, Tarique Rahman, has been living in London, UK, since 2008.

"All arrangements are in place. If the party or her family decides, the government will take the necessary steps to send Khaleda Zia abroad for treatment," Touhid said further.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is currently undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital, and Tarique recently wrote on Facebook that his returning to Bangladesh is not entirely in his hands.
