Hezbut Tawheed’s Dhaka city unit today staged a human chain and protest rally in front of the National Press Club, denouncing "open threats, false propaganda, and inflammatory remarks" made under the banner of Hefazat-e-Islam in Noakhali.

The rally began at 11:00am, protesting against speeches delivered at Hefazat’s gathering at Noakhali Zilla School ground on Saturday.

Addressing the human chain, Dhaka city Hezbut Tawheed President Mahbub Alam Mahfuz alleged that Hefazat’s "mahfil" was "an extremist and provocative" assembly aimed at disturbing Noakhali’s peaceful environment. He claimed Hefazat leaders made baseless allegations against Hezbut Tawheed and issued direct threats such as "burying, evicting, and driving them out of the country."

Mahfuz further accused Hefazat speakers of inciting violence against a lawful movement by "exploiting religious sentiment through misogynistic and hate-filled rhetoric".

Hezbut Tawheed members demanded immediate legal action against those spreading false propaganda, issuing threats, and making derogatory remarks against women. They recalled that in 2016, an attack was carried out on the village home of Imam Hossain Mohammad Selim in Sonaiamuri, leaving two members killed and properties torched, cautioning that similar violence was being instigated again.

Speakers at the rally included joint general secretaries Md Moshior Rahman and SM Shamsul Huda, Dhaka city student welfare secretary Mokhlesur Rahman Sumon, and joint women’s affairs secretary Ayesha Siddika.
