Playwright Mukid Chowdhury has been honoured with the Cumilla Kabi Parishad Literary Award 2025 for his special contribution to stage theatre.
The award was announced by CUKC founder president R Mujib and president Abdul Latif on December 18.
The literary award along with a monetary honorarium will be presented at a ceremony to be held in Dhaka on December 26.
Mukid Chowdhury said, ‘Stage theatre attracts me deeply. Personally, I feel a strong affinity for the new-stream Bangla Movement Theatre art form. Essentially, this art form aims to easily involve those who have never performed on stage in theatrical presentation.’
Mukid Chowdhury is the youngest son of fiction writer Abdur Rauf Chowdhury and Shirin Chowdhury.
He is a versatile personality — scientist, novelist, essayist, playwright, and poet — and has made significant contributions across almost every field of Bengali literature.
