A total of 79,246 Class five students have secured talent-pool and general scholarships under the Primary Scholarship Examination 2025, with girls accounting for nearly 55 percent of the recipients.
Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced the results at a press conference at the International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka today.
Of the scholarship recipients, 43,354, or 54.71 percent, are girls, while 35,892, or 45.29 percent, are boys.
A total of 32,965 students received talent-pool scholarships, including 26,375 from government primary schools and 6,590 from private schools.
Another 46,281 students received general scholarships, of whom 36,420 are from government primary schools and 9,861 from private schools.
The government had allocated 82,500 scholarships under the Primary Scholarship Examination Policy 2026, leaving 3,254 awards unfilled.
The allocation included 33,000 talent-pool scholarships and 49,500 general scholarships.
Under the policy, 80 percent of talent-pool scholarships were reserved for students of government primary schools, with the remaining 20 percent allocated to students of private schools.
For general scholarships, 39,600 awards were allocated to government primary school students on a union and ward basis. Each union and ward was allotted five scholarships: two for boys, two for girls and one based on merit.
The remaining 20 percent of general scholarships were reserved for private school students and distributed on an upazila basis.
A total of 645,041 students from 78,810 schools registered for the examination, but only 419,982, or 65.11 percent, sat the test.
Among government primary school candidates, 344,127, or 62.01 percent, took the examination, compared with 75,855, or 84.16 percent, from private schools.
Of the total examinees, 253,341, or 60.32 percent, were girls, while 166,641, or 39.68 percent, were boys.
