The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has removed 28,428 tonnes of sacrificial animal waste from the capital from Eid day until Saturday afternoon.
According to the DSCC's Public Relations Department, 14,814 tonnes of waste were dumped at the Matuail Landfill by 11:59pm on Eid day (Thursday), followed by another 8,977 tonnes by 11:59pm on Friday.
An additional 4,637 tonnes of waste were disposed of at the landfill by 12:00pm on Saturday.
Officials said sanitation workers, vehicles, and equipment were deployed from the first day of Eid to ensure swift waste removal, aiming to reduce public inconvenience and safeguard public health.
Rasel Rahman, public relations officer of DSCC, said the collection and removal of sacrificial waste were progressing according to plan.
Waste from different wards is being transported continuously to the Matuail Landfill, and operations will continue to ensure the cleanliness of the city, he added.
