Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference kicks off today at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, with a keynote expected to put artificial intelligence and a long-awaited Siri overhaul.

The event begins at 11 pm Bangladesh time and will be streamed on Apple’s website, the Apple Developer app, and YouTube.

What might be announced?

The headline announcement is likely to be a radically revamped Siri that functions as a full AI chatbot. After a rocky start to its Apple Intelligence push in 2024, marked by unreliable features and delayed releases, the company has been under pressure to deliver a credible response to rivals.

Reports from Bloomberg's Apple analyst Mark Gurman suggest Siri will gain the ability to hold extended conversations and generate text, possibly drawing on technology from Google Gemini. According to a CNET report, Apple has also been testing a standalone Siri app with a dedicated 'Ask Siri' button, a move that would make the assistant far more visible across iPhones, iPads, and Macs than it is today.

New versions of all major operating systems should also be previewed in this WWDC, carrying the expected naming convention: iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27. Beyond iOS, macOS Tahoe is set to be the last release to support Intel-powered Macs, marking the full transition to Apple Silicon, as per the CNET report. WatchOS 27 may feature a simplified watch face with fewer complications, while visionOS 27 is likely to remain a software-only update, with new Vision Pro hardware not expected until at least 2028.

iOS 27 is expected to carry more than just the Siri reboot. The update could introduce camera improvements under the Visual Intelligence banner, adding AI-powered tools to photo and video capture. There is also speculation that the operating system will borrow multitasking features previously reserved for the iPad, a shift that would point squarely toward the rumoured foldable iPhone expected later this year. Such a device would benefit from a larger, tablet-like display, and the software groundwork may begin to appear today.

No new devices are anticipated for the keynote itself, though the event carries symbolic weight: this is expected to be Tim Cook’s final WWDC as chief executive before he steps down in September. Hardware engineering head John Ternus, his successor, is widely expected to appear on stage.

Apple has spent the last two years trying to reset its AI ambitions. Today’s presentation will show whether that reset has taken hold.
