‘Yes’ vote secured a decisive victory in the referendum held alongside the 13th national parliamentary election, winning by more than double the number of ‘No’ votes across all six constituencies in Rajshahi.
According to information released by the district administration’s media cell around 11:30 am on Friday, ‘Yes’ vote led by 512,152 ballots. The results, signed by Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Afia Akhter, show that a total of 996,784 ‘Yes’ votes were cast, compared to 484,632 ‘No’ votes across the six constituencies.
Rajshahi-1 (Godagari-Tanore)
Out of 160 polling centres, 240,252 voted ‘Yes’ and 75,268 voted ‘No.’ A total of 351,180 ballots were cast, with 35,387 declared invalid. Valid votes stood at 315,793. The constituency has 468,780 registered voters.
Rajshahi-2 (Sadar)
In 116 centres, 149,838 voted ‘Yes’ and 77,631 voted ‘No.’ Total votes cast were 235,707, including 8,238 invalid ballots. Valid votes totaled 227,469. The constituency has 369,564 registered voters.
Rajshahi-3 (Paba-Mohanpur)
Across 132 centres, 194,881 voted ‘Yes’ while 96,124 voted ‘No.’ Of the 325,811 ballots cast, 32,927 were invalid, leaving 292,884 valid votes. The total number of registered voters is 423,738.
Rajshahi-4 (Bagmara)
In 123 centres, 145,382 voted ‘Yes’ and 61,229 voted ‘No.’ Total votes cast were 230,523, with 23,912 invalid ballots. Valid votes stood at 206,661. The constituency has 319,909 voters.
Rajshahi-5 (Puthia-Durgapur)
Among 133 centres, 135,353 voted ‘Yes’ and 79,168 voted ‘No.’ A total of 243,155 ballots were cast, including 28,633 invalid votes. Valid votes totaled 214,522. The constituency has 353,173 registered voters.
Rajshahi-6 (Bagha-Charghat)
In 120 centres, 130,805 voted ‘Yes’ compared to 95,212 ‘No’ votes. Of the 253,408 ballots cast, 27,391 were invalid. Valid votes stood at 226,017. The constituency has 356,959 registered voters.
The overall results indicate a clear lead for ‘Yes’ vote across all constituencies in the district.
