Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami amir Shafiqur Rahman exchanged Eid greetings and good wishes with diplomats from various diplomatic missions in Dhaka on Saturday.

The greeting exchange ceremony was held from 11:00am to 12:30pm at his official residence on Minto Road in the capital, in a warm and cordial atmosphere.


During the event, he exchanged Eid greetings and good wishes with diplomats from countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, China, Turkey, Germany, Japan, Korea, Italy, India, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, Nepal, Bhutan, Belgium, Singapore, Myanmar, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia, Egypt, Palestine, Algeria, Kosovo, Albania, Brunei, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, as well as representatives of various international organisations, including UNDP, UNESCO, and UNICEF.

Earlier, he offered Eid prayers at around 8:00am at the Monipur Girls’ High School ground adjacent to 60 Feet Road in Mirpur in the capital.

Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival for Muslims, is being celebrated across the country on Saturday with festivity and religious fervour.

The main congregation was held at the Jatiya Eidgah in the capital at about 8:30am.

Meanwhile, the country’s largest Eid congregation took place at Sholakia Eidgah in Kishoreganj amid tight security.
