Zamil Ahmed Limon, one of two Bangladeshi PhD students killed in the US, was laid to rest this evening at his village graveyard in Madarganj upazila of Jamalpur.
His namaz-e-janaza was held at Binodtongi High School playground, attended by local MP Mostafizur Rahman Babul, Additional District Magistrate AKM Abdullah Bin Rashid, and UNO Suman Chowdhury, along with family members, friends, and local residents.
Limon had travelled to the US in July 2024 to pursue his PhD from University of South Florida. On April 16, he and another student, Nahida Sultana Bristy, were reported missing. Police later recovered Limon’s body on April 24 and arrested his roommate in connection with the incident.
According to his father, Zahurul Haque, Limon completed his SSC in 2014 and HSC in 2016, before finishing his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Khulna University.
Limon’s body was flown back to Bangladesh earlier today. It was later transported by ambulance to his home in Laldoba village, arriving around 3:30pm.
