Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) has arrested Emon, also known as “Bhagne Emon”, one of the listed top terrorists in Jashore and a fugitive accused in 17 cases.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rab-6 conducted a drive in the Nutun Khoyertola area of Palbari in Jashore town early today and arrested him, confirmed Rab-6 Jashore Company Commander Major Fazle Rabbi Prince.

The cases filed against him include murder, extortion, terrorism, illegal arms possession, bomb attacks, and drug smuggling, according to Rab.

He was later handed over to Jashore Kotwali Police Station this morning.

Law enforcement sources said Emon had been absconding for a long time. Recently, intelligence reports suggested that he was staying in the Palbari area.

Major Fazle Rabbi said, “Bhagne Emon is a listed top terrorist in Jashore. He is accused in two sensational murder cases. Besides, he faces cases related to arms, bomb attacks, extortion, terrorism, and drug trafficking.”

He added that Emon had allegedly been operating his criminal network while in hiding.
