International communities on Saturday continued to greet Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairman Tarique Rahman on his party’s sweeping victory in Bangladesh’s 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections held on February 12 as well as its people for the peaceful polls.

Qatari prime minister and minister of foreign affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Malaysian prime minister Anwar Ibrahim, president of the Republic of the Maldives Mohamed Muizzu and Nepal’s prime minister Sushila Karki in separate messages  congratulated the BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on his party’s decisive victory in the national polls.


In a congratulatory cable, the Qatari premier extended his greetings to Tarique on his party’s success in the recently concluded 13th parliamentary elections, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported.

Germany congratulated Tarique Rahman on his election victory, commending Bangladeshi voters for meaningful democratic participation and expressing her readiness to work closely with the new government and parliament.

‘We congratulate Tarique Rahman and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on the election victory,’ read a message, issued by the German embassy in Dhaka.

Germany expressed its commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Bangladesh under the newly elected leadership.

The United Nations congratulated the people of Bangladesh on holding the parliamentary elections and referendum, urging all political actors to strengthen national cohesion and uphold democratic norms and human rights, BSS reported.

In a message issued by UN secretary-general António Guterres extended congratulations to the people of Bangladesh on holding the elections and referendum.

The Secretary General of Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation, Indra Mani Pandey, also congratulated Tarique Rahman on his party’s historic victory in the polls.

In a congratulatory message, the secretary general extended warm greetings to Tarique Rahman on leading the BNP to a decisive electoral win.

Lauding the successful conduct of the parliamentary polls and expressing readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation with the new government, Egypt extended its ‘sincere congratulations to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and Mr Tarique Rahman on their election victory’, according to a message shared by the embassy of Egypt in Dhaka.

In a message issued by the embassy of France in Dhaka, France lauded the ‘successful and credible elections’. 

The French Embassy also congratulated all the elected candidates as well as BNP and its leader ‘Tarique Rahman’ for their victory.

India, China, Pakistan, the United States, the United Kingdom and Bhutan earlier on Friday congratulated Tarique Rahman on his party’s victory in the elections.
