Education minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon and adviser to the prime minister Mahdi Amin joined a roundtable titled Teachers’ Continuous Professional Development on the sidelines of the Education World Forum 2026 in London in the United Kingdom on Tuesday.

The roundtable was also attended by Michael Connolly, director of English and school education at the British Council, along with ministers of education and senior officials from several provinces of Pakistan, including Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh, said a press release.

During the discussion, when Pakistani ministers asked how Bangladesh had achieved significant progress in literacy despite having similar socio-economic conditions to Pakistan, the education minister explained that the ‘each one, teach one’ policy, introduced by the late president Ziaur Rahman, helped lay the foundation for Bangladesh’s remarkable progress in literacy.

Mahdi Amin also highlighted the vision of the newly elected government for ensuring quality education, including the ‘one teacher, one tab’ initiative.

The roundtable facilitated an open and constructive dialogue among high-level participants to reflect on shared priorities in teachers’ professional development, identify common challenges and areas of mutual interest, and explore potential avenues for future collaboration.
