Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) on Thursday accorded a reception to its members who have been elected members of parliament in the 13th national election.
A total of 17 members from the readymade garment sector, including three ministers, three state ministers and one adviser to the Prime Minister, were honoured.
The BGMEA organised the reception programme followed by an iftar party at Army Golf Club in the city.
The three ministers are Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam, Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher and Commerce, Industries and Textile and Jute Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir.
The state-ministers are Foreign Affairs State Minister Shama Obayed Islsm, Housing and Public Works State Minister Shariful Alam, Commerce, Industries and Textile State Minister Ahmmed Sohel Manzur while Mahdi Amin serves as adviser to the PM.
On the other hand, 10 lawmakers are Jaynul Abedin Faruque from Noakhali-2 constituency, Ershad Ullah from Chattogram -8, SM Faisal from Habiganj -4, Md Khaled Hossain Mahbub from Brahmanbaria -3, Md Abul Kalam from Cumilla-9, Md Lutfar Rahman from Tangail-4, Md Zakir Hossain from Mymensingh-5, Md Abdullah from Munshiganj-1, Md Abdul Hannan from Chandpur-4 and Md Shahadat Hossain from Lakshmipur-1.
Presided over by BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan, the event was attended by its vice-presidents Selim Rahman, Inamul Haq Khan, Rezwan Selim, Shehab ud Doza Chowdhury, Vidya Amrit Khan, former presidents AK Azad, Anwar ul Alam Chowdhury, and Faruque Hassan, among others.
